The original Dust Muzzle that we patented in 1991 is grinder specific. It is made in over forty different models for electric and pneumatic grinders with round bearing housings as well as pneumatic grinders with square bearing housings. If you have only one or two types of grinders and do not need one of our universal Dust Muzzles, then the original Dust Muzzle is the most economical choice. If you need a Dust Muzzle that can be adapted to any of your grinders with round bearing housings, then the Dust Muzzle Ultra or the Jaw Muzzle System with the universal adapter ring is the best choice.

The Dust Muzzle is connected to your industrial 2hp vacuum by a lightweight step-down hose for ease of motion. If the operator does not have a step-down hose, he will need one to connect the Dust Muzzle to the 1 1/2″ hose that comes standard with all American vacuums.

How the Dust Muzzle works
The Dust Muzzle uses the centrifugal forces created by the grinding wheel to force the dust out the side exhaust port. When connected to any standard 2 hp industrial vacuum, with our step-down hose the Dust Muzzle can remove up to 95% of the pollutants at the point of origin.

Note for Die Grinders: If you are using the Dust Muzzle on a 2-3″ die grinder, you will need to order two hoses, the 1 12″ x 54″ step-down hose, and the 3/4″ x 18″ 234AD.

Applications
The Dust Muzzle is excellent for grinding fiberglass, concrete, wood, paints and epoxies. It can be used with sandpaper, diamond cup wheels and soft pad discs.

OSHA 2017 Silica Dust Requirements specify a HEPA vacuum with 110 CFM for diamond wheels 4 1/2″ in diameter and 175 CFM for diamond wheels 7″ in diameter.
To be compliant, the contractor will need vacuums with the following specs.
110CFM Vacuum System   220 CFM Vacuum System
